Description:

Cortel Trio Tablet is a combination of medications used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) when a single tablet does not work. It helps to lower high blood pressure, which minimises the risk of future heart attacks and strokes.

Cortel Trio tablet can be taken with or without food. The dosage will be determined by your condition and response to the medication. Try taking it at the same time every day. Continue taking this medication until your doctor tells you to stop. It contains a diuretic (water pill) and will cause you to urinate more; therefore, it is advisable to avoid taking this medication within four hours of bedtime. Even if you feel OK, take this medication on a daily basis to get the most out of it. High blood pressure rarely causes symptoms, and stopping treatment may increase your risk of a heart attack or stroke.

Pregnancy interaction:

Cortel Trio Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor.

Side Effects:

The most common adverse effects of this medication are headaches, dizziness, exhaustion, changes in taste, fatigue, flu-like symptoms, diarrhoea, and sinusitis. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms irritate you, worsen, or persist. Drink plenty of water while taking medication to combat muscle weakness, dry mouth, and severe thirst.

How to use:

Take this medication in the dose and period prescribed by your doctor. Swallow it fully. Don't eat, crush, or break it. Cortel Trio Tablet can be taken with or without food, although it is preferable to take it at a specific time.

How it works:

Cortel Trio Tablet consists of three medications: telmisartan, amlodipine, and hydrochlorothiazide. Telmisartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB), while Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker. They function by expanding and relaxing the blood arteries, which lowers blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that eliminates excess water and specific electrolytes from the body via urine. Over time, it also relaxes blood arteries and increases circulation.
